The Ekiti State Command of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has confirmed the murder, on Friday, of an operative of the Department of State Services (DSS), by a Soldier.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti Command, ASP Sunday Abutu, who confirmed the incident revealed that the victim was killed during an argument with some soldiers.
The PPRO said the information gathered revealed that the DSS operative was killed during a hot argument with some soldiers Friday evening.
He said the body of the deceased had since been deposited at the mortuary while the Force has commenced investigation into the sad occurrence.
A witness at the scene said the incident occurred at about 7.30pm at a hotel located along NTA road in Ado Ekiti, where the late operative was said to have been stabbed on the neck by one of the three soldiers at the scene of the incident.
According to the source, the DSS operative met his untimely death when he tried to intervene in the arrest of a young man who was arrested by the soldiers on allegation of his involvement in internet fraud.
While the soldiers were interrogating him, he saw the DSS operative on a bike and beckoned to him for rescue.
However, a heated argument developed between the security agents and one of the soldiers became so angry that he drew out a knife and stabbed the DSS man in the neck.
The DSS operative fell immediately and started bleeding as the people in the hotel hurriedly scampered out of the hotel. A few minutes later, about six gun wielding DSS operatives were said to have stormed the hotel and arrested the soldiers, the source said.
