Civil servants on Grade Level 12 and below are not expected back at work until June 11, 2021 according to a new directive from the Federal Government.
The new extension in the resumption date by the Presidential Steering Committee On COVID-19 in line with its work-from-home directive is part of measures necessary to at prevent the spread of deadly strains of COVID-19 virus in the country.
The Committee however said that it will review the directive after the expiration of the new extension in June.
The National Incident Manager, Mukhtar Mohammed at a press briefing in Abuja on Monday had confirmed that all Government staff on GL. 12 and below are to continue to stay at home until 11th June, 2021.
He said that Permanent Secretaries and Chief Executives are to be held accountable for enforcing NPI rules in their domains with frequent spot checks to ensure that all NPIs are such as the mandatory and proper use of face masks in all government premises are observed.
He advised non-government workers to encourage virtual meetings by offices, avoid large meetings, decongest offices and ensure they are well-ventilated. Where possible, he staff should be encouraged to work from home.
